As well as bomb-making material, the suspected ETA members, arrested on Tuesday, also possessed marihuana, narcotics and equipment used in drug-trafficking.

Basque police pursuing the investigation into five suspected ETA-members, arrested on Tuesday, have seized a significant amounts of material used in the fabrication of explosives, most likely car bombs.

Also seized were two pistols, munitions, detonators and timing devices.

Along with the arms and explosives were other items, such as mobile phones, computing material and documentation, as well as an electrifying weapon usually used in self-defence.

Two bags of marihuana, a further 41 bags of other suspected drugs, four weighing scales and 1,750 Euros in 50 Euro notes were also discovered.

All seized material will be made available by police to the Spanish National Court as part of legal proceedings.
