University of the Basque Country, amongst hundred best in Europe

In concrete, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) reached position 99 out of a total of 4,752 universities and academic institutions throughout the whole continent.
The University of the Basque Country is, for the first time, ranked amongst the hundred best European universities in, according to a recent study published by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC.
The investigation was carried out by the Cybermetrics Laboratory, analysing content related to the process of academic generation and communication of scientific knowledge through the Internet. Using quantitative methods, the laboratory designed and applied indicators that enabled the study of university activity in its broadest sense.
In concrete, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) reached position 99 out of a total of 4,752 universities and academic institutions throughout the whole continent. To be placed amongst the 100 top European universities is excellent news for the UPV/EHU, not having achieved such an outstanding position in these kinds of lists to date.
The Cibermetría Laboratory undertook an exhaustive analysis of universities worldwide, classified both by regions and in absolute terms. Within the latter classification, the UPV/EHU was at number 273 (from a list of some 8,000 of the most relevant university institutions throughout the world - it is estimated that there are some 18,000.
Within this general ranking the first twenty-six universities are North American and only at number 27 does the first European centre appear -the University of Cambridge in Britain. No University from the Spanish State appears amongst the first 100, the Universidad Complutense in Madrid coming 150th.
