It is a well-known fact that some, if not many, make the most of the booze and blurriness of San Fermines to explore their more exhibitionist tendencies.
The 5th San Fermin Erotic Photo Competition (organized by Playboy Magazine and Pamplona-based company Kukuxumuxu) - with its winning cash prize of €3,000 - has once again proved that when the 'txupinazo' fires or the bulls are running, sometimes it pays to look the other way.
Among the images of bare backsides, boobs and less-than-innocent clinches submitted to this year's competition, 2011's winning photo is an example of classic eroticism: a provocative image that reveals little.
It shows a sea of expectant men holding out their arms and looking skyward while a miniskirt-clad woman dives from the city's fountain towards them, betraying just a glimpse of her crotch.
Like a true voyeur, photographer Mikel Cía was decisive when choosing his spot: "When I saw she was about to jump, it occurred to me to climb up the fountain. I took a series of five photos and chose the best one," he explains. According to one Kukuxumusu representative, the photos reflects the combined qualities of "respect, art and fiesta".
