Bilbao's judge association said it was approving measures to suspend several evictions already scheduled to take place in the next days or weeks.

The judge association explained that judges following this procedure will suspend evictions and meet the house owners to see if they can benefit from the measures approved by the Spanish Government.

Spain approved measures to help the most needy families facing eviction after the suicide of a woman whose home bailiffs came to seize. The government said it would suspend evictions for two years for vulnerable homeowners who can no longer pay back debt, including those with small children, the disabled and long-term unemployed. The eviction moratorium will apply only to families with household income of less than 19,200 euros a year.

The measures, that will only affect the principal residence, not holiday apartments.
