Six people were arrested on Friday in a protest in Paris for the mysterious disappearance of a long-time member of the armed Basque group ETA who turned up in a Toulouse morgue last month.

Police say a Basque protester has been seriously injured in a fall from the Arc de Triomphe as he and others climbed the Paris monument to hang a protest banner.

Police say six people were arrested in the protest Friday but that during the descent one person got stuck in scaffolding and another fell, seriously injuring himself, though his life was not in danger.

The banner read "What Have You done to Jon Anza Ortuñez," a long-time member of the armed Basque group ETA who turned up in a Toulouse morgue last month, nearly a year after his mysterious disappearance.

The Basque left-wing movement said Anza had been transporting funds when he vanished.
