The sponsors of the new formation, which is a coalition of Basque parties Eusko Alkartasuna, Alternatiba and some other independent people, are expected to register in the Basque Country on Wednesday.
Sponsors of a new Basque nationalist left-wing coalition party that goes under the name of Bildu registered Tuesday with the Navarran election board to stand in the May regional and local vote.
The sponsors of the new formation, which is a coalition of Basque parties Eusko Alkartasuna, Alternatiba and some other independent people, are expected to register in the Basque Country vote on Wednesday.
According to their leader in EA, Maiorga Ramirez, the objective of the nationalist coalition is to " form a coalition that lays the foundations for a united party to the exclusion of no-one, in order to achieve political change". On leaving Pamplona’s Palacio de Justicia after registering the new coalition party, the territorial secretary of EA in Navarre, Maiorga Ramírez, in a statement to the media, said that Bildu was not a Plan B for Sortu, a new nationalist party that says it rejects violence by the armed Basque group ETA but which Spain''s Supreme Court considers the ''new disguise'' of the armed band.
Maiorga added that Bildu represents "a commitment to a future strategy which comes from a conviction that in Euskal Herria an agglomeration and channelling of all nationalist energies and strengths is needed in order to achieve a more just society and to become a key player in the culmination of a process of peace and normalization."
